Government-issued marker with his name on it and "Co K 1st Mich S.S." in the Onominese Cemetery at Gills Pier, Leelanau Twp., Leelanau Co. Michigan. Most burial records for this cemetery have been lost. Cemetery Transcription

I have seen the affidavits in his Civil War pension file, citations follow: Deposition of John H. Thomas 13 October 1892 mentions he died at his sister's house, 2 miles from where John H. Thomas lived, about 6 years before time of deposition. Deposition of Mrs. Mary J. Wolfe of Northport mentions he died very near the time George Johnson, brother of Amelia Dame, died. His brother in law John Agatchie mortgaged his team to Mr. Copp to buy a suit of clothes to bury him in. Mary Micksaba was named as spouse of George in an affidavit dated 12 Sept 1892 filed by James Ahwanageshig, also a Co. K veteran.
