1839 March Death of Ningweegon or The Wing Ottawa Chief

Office of Indian Affairs
Michilimackinac June 8th 1839

Sir,

I have the honor to apprize the department of the death, on the 10th March last, of Ning wee gon or The Wing and Ottawa Chief who was entitled to a life annuity of $100, under the treaty of March 28th 1836. This Chief was distinguished for his noble support of the American cause in the quarter during the War of 1812, and maintained the preference then evinced, with entire integrity, to the time of his death. As the annuity would have been due on the 28th March, the propriety of the payment of it, for this year, to his surviving family, is suggested.

I am sir,
Very Respectfully,
Yr. Obt. Sevt.
