The Smile

By Robert Kisko

As I gaze up at the stars,
I see what seems to be a face.
Yes, a face, smiling back at me.
Not so familiar, but yes it is, yet a smile.
The more I learn about my ancestors,
The brighter the smile grows.
And I know now, its one of them
Looking down, knowing and loving,
That someone will not let them fade away.
I will always treasure the memories
Discovered in my search.
And gaze up to see the smile grow brighter.
Brighter it grows still each day,
As I learn more and more about them,
Their life and times, good or bad.
May we forever share their memories,
Holding them dear within our hearts
And see the smile grow bright and clear
Upon the faces of the past.
