OBITUARY:
John K. Wooley who died on Saturday, the 18th last, was born in New
Germantown*, Hunterdon , New Jersey in July 1810. He Learned the
blacksmithing trade in company with A. V. Shurtz and at the age of 21
years moved to Belvidere, where he married a Miss Crose.. Again he moved
west, and landed in Michigan in 1835; again worked at his trade until a
few years ago. Once more he started west, Landing at Bramhall, Dakota,
last May. He pre-empted the SE quarter of section 22, of William, Hamilton
Township, but on account of poor health, he was unable to live on his
claim and has lived with his son, William, since he has been here. He has
been in declining health for some time and died Saturday, December 18th in
his 77th year. His remains were interned in the Union Cemetery at
Bramhall, on Tuesday, the 21st. Hamilton Township is in Gratiot Co.
