William Cutshaw was the son of Conrad and Margaret (Glasgow Dunfee) Cutshaw who married in Belmont Co OH 11 Jan 1842 (Belmont Co Oh Records Vol 5 pg 263-4). Conrad and Margaret were in Belmont Co Oh Mead Twp census for 1850 and by 1860 could be found in Newport Twp of Washington Co Oh but are not of record after that date other than 12 Sep 1871 in Washington Co Oh when Margaret Cutshaw, widow, sold her husband's land. The children of this marriage (Conrad had at least one other marriage and at least one other family) were George W Cutshaw b in Belmont Co Oh ca 1842; William F/J/I Cutshaw b in Belmont Co Oh ca 1844 (family listed above); Sheppard T "Shep" Cutshaw b Belmont Co Oh 16 Feb 1847/48; Shannon Cutshaw b Belmont Co Oh 1850 and who d at Nashville TN having volunteered at age 15 in the 175th Reg, Co. K in Washington Co OH; Henry Hoblitzell Cutshaw b Belmont Co Oh 30 Mar 1854.
William Cutshaw m Susanna Blair b ca 1847 Kty on 8 Dec 1864 (Washington Co Oh marriage records). She d 21 June 1927 Bellaire OH and he d 26 Dec 1910 Tulsa OK. She was the d/o Russian Blair. William's Civil War file 760.059 and certificate 538.347 contain his wife's statement of how they were visiting their daughter in Bartlesville OK and were returning home when William had a heart attack while waiting at the train depot. He is buried at what is now called White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville, Washington Co OK and a photo of his headstone is on line.
William's son James Albert Cutshaw (name confirmed by the birth record of his daughter Alberta Francis in Washington Co, Bartlesville OK 15 Oct 1907) was first m to Charlotte L Cronin in Washington Co Oh 12 Oct 1890. It is not thought that they had children. He and his second wife Rose Loraine Armstrong (also noted on Alberta Francis's birth certificate) are seen on the 1900 census of Washington Co Oh, in the city of Marietta at 760 Green St.
We find James A. Cutshaw and his wife and children on the 1920 census of Wynona, Osage Co Oklahoma. We believe that they are the James A and Rose Cutshaw buried in Alma Michigan. James Albert Cutshaw having died ca 1936. The SSDI lists Rose Cutshaw b Oct 1877 Kty who d in Dec 1970 in Benton Harbor, Berrien Co MI
James Albert and Rose's son James Cutshaw Jr was first married to Dorotha Schrack and they had one son Harold/Hal Lavern Cutshaw who was enrolled at Seminole High School in Seminole Oklahoma when in 1935/36 school records show that he left to return to Michigan. We know that James Jr and Dorotha were divorced and we find him of record at the death of his father in Alma ca 1936 at which time his wife is shown as Peggy. We do not know her identity nor if they had other children.
Alberta Francis Cutshaw d/o James Albert and Rose was married to her distant cousin Randall Cutshaw (Randall was a grandson of Henry Hoblitzell Cutshaw who was a brother of Alberta Francis's grandfather William F/J/I Cutshaw) Alberta and Randall divorced and she m (2) a Mr. Walsh. The SSDI shows that she d in Gratiot MI in May of 1986.
Randall and Alberta Francis (Cutshaw) Cutshaw were the parents of Geraldine Sue Cutshaw born in May of 1924. She m John/Jack Leonard Morton in Eureka, Clinton Co MI in 1946.
