1. From the File menu, select Copy/Export Family File (ALT, F, C).
2. Click the Save as type drop-down list and select GEDCOM (*.GED).
3. In the File name field, type a name for the GEDCOM file. It must have the extension .GED.
4. In the Save in fields, select the drive and folder where they want to place the file for you.
5. Click Save.
Family Tree Maker displays the Export to GEDCOM dialog box. It is essential that these selections are chosen in that dialog box:
Destination: FTW
Version: 5.5
Character Set: ANSEL
and check the "Abbreviate Tags" box.
FTM has not caught up gedcom standards in all aspects because it does not have newer capabilities to recognize non-Roman characters.

choose Order/Download Products on menu bar
1. From the File menu, select Export.
On Left:
2. In window choose on the left in Export Type - Other GEDCOM 5.5 (in older versions choose the highest number allowed)
3. Choose Char Set - ANSEL
On Right: Make your choices and make sure you choose submitter which will attach your name and contact info to the file.
Selected Individuals - Choose Partial and Select Button - find the furthest Auger back in the file the under the list of names hit drop down and find descendants and hit select button. Press

3. Choose Ansel in dropdown marked Character Set.
4. Choose Compiler on the right and fill in.
5. Choose checkboxes on the left as you want but DO NOT choose Indent Tags which is the first box .
Take the time to choose just the line of your files that you want in the gedcom. Starting with your Auger furthest back and choosing descendants is good.
