Notes of several speeches of Chippewas from the North, on the subject of the additional claims for debt, and also of claims, or items, rejected by the Commissioner in 1836, delivered at the Agency at Michilimackinac on 13 September 1837.

  • South Bird’s eldest son, from Grand Island in L. Superior – reports the death of his father South Bird in the year preceding. Names Louis Nolin as local trader.
  • MuKudday wuckwut of Taequimenon River – claimants named John Johnston estate, H. Levake, Thomas Edwards and J. L. Schoolcraft – John Johnston married Mukudday wuckwut’s niece – Iskee Wakiegon on Drummond Island mentioned
  • Kewayzee Shawano of Sault Ste. Marie – children and wife omitted from half breed list.
  • Iawba waddick of Point Iroquois, foot of Lake Superior & Kaybanodino. – wishes Kewayzee Shawano’s wife and children to have an allowance.

Two speeches of the Ottawas and Chippewas delivered at the Agency at Michilimackinac Sept. 15th 1837, on the conspiracy, in the shape of new claims for $22,500 for charitable services, brought forward by Messrs. Biddle and Drew, Rix Robinson, and Robert Stuart, the latter as Agent for the American Fur Company.
  • Ogimaw Wininee Chief of L’Arbre Croche on the part of the Ottawas.
  • Keway Gooskum of Manistee on the part of the Chippewas.
