(01/00/25)OBIT: Passed away Monday, January 24, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper. Age 64 years. The son of Doris Hoffman and the late Clarence L. Hoffman was born January 20, 1936 in Saginaw. He married Ethel Ida Lyness, who survives him. He was a graduate of Michigan State University receiving his Bachelor's of Arts and Masters of Arts Degree in Speech Therapy and then received his Masters of Arts Degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan. Mr. Hoffman was Director of Special Education for the Saginaw Intermediate School District and was Special Education Teacher for the Saginaw Board of Education at Stone School, retiring in June of 1998. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a Professional Ski Instructor, teaching skiing and snowboarding at Snowsnake Mt. in Harrison, Mich. Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, two sons and their spouses, Catherine Hoffman Lopes and her husband Jerry, Willington, Conn.; Cynthia Plum, Cape Coral, Fla.; Robert K. Hoffman, Saginaw; Christopher and Debbie Hoffman, Freeland, Mich.; Diane and Russell Ray, Saginaw; 11 grandchildren, Aaron, Gabriel and Zachary Lopes; Kristi and Josh Plum; Jamie and Jacob Hoffman; Jessica and Taylor Ray; Stephanie and Katelyn Martell; his mother, Doris Hoffman, Saginaw; a brother and his wife, Roger and Lenora Hoffman, Freeland; three nieces, Lisa Yura, Northville, Mich.; Amy Hoffman, Mt. Clemens, Mich.; Kerri Hoffman, Phoenix, Ariz. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2000 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rev. David Parsch will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W.L. Case & Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, where they will meet at 7:30 p.m. for a prayer service with Sr. Betty Zeestraten, O.S.F., officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Funeral Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Special Olympics.
